WHO: Natasha Romanoff & Tony Stark
WHAT: Bonding over being dead
WHERE: A bar
WHEN: Saturday night
STATUS: Threading
WARNINGS: Language, talk of death

It wasn't that Tony wasn't dealing with his death; he just hadn't lived it. It was hard to mourn something that seemed more like a story than reality. However, it was real when he looked at his teenage daughter. It was real when he watched Peter cry over him. It was real when Pepper vowed to protect their new dimension. And for those people? He vowed to keep going. He missed Happy and Rhodey, but he hoped they'd come one day. In the meantime? He needed to do all he could to keep this dimension going.

He agreed to meet Nat for drinks because she was not only a good friend, but because she was perhaps the only one who could truly understand what Tony was going through. Still, he meant what he told her. He had kids to worry about so he couldn't just drink himself into a stupor (even if he sort of wanted to when he thought too hard on everything).

"Hey, look who is here." Tony slid next to Natasha and flashed her a grin. "Got my tab going already?"

Natasha had been doing a lot of things to keep herself busy, so that she wouldn't have to deal with the fact that she had actually, honestly died. Or the fact that Bruce was here, honestly Bruce and those feels rose in her chest sometimes despite the fact that she'd worked so hard to ignore them. She had buried herself in making lists of who was missing, lists of what needed to be done to help the people who were being displaced. She was doing exactly like what she'd done after the snap, trying to keep some sembalance of action so that she didn't utterly fall apart.

But it was harder when she knew that despite trying to keep the family together, she'd have to die to do it. And while she was okay dying for her friends, there was still a pang of fear that threatened to topple over every bit of a defensive wall she'd built for herself. Especially around Tony and Bruce.

She hadn't been far off from the bar when she told Stark she would meet him for a round, and had no problems with getting started without him. She nodded to a chair next to hers with a smirk. "You know I have no problems spending your money." She teased him. "How have you been doing, Tony?"

"Only keep me around for the money, I see." He slid into the chair she indicated, but not before squeezing her shoulder slightly. "Been busy," he admitted. "Haven't been the best friend. But that changes now. Tell me what's going on."

"You know that's not true." She teased him, and bumped her shoulder against his as he sat down. Nat appreciated Stark for a lot of reasons, his dedication to the people around him being the top on that list.

"Same," She admittedly slowly into her beer as she took a calm sip. "Keep thinking about how to make this... home. How to reassemble everyone. This world... doesn't have Thanos, and if we could just pull everyone back together again. Thats why we did this, Tony, to bring everyone... back." Of course, it was a different set of people missing now, maybe even more people missing, but if she could bring the others back... maybe they could all have the peace that they deserved.

Subconsciously, she rubbed the back of her head, the knot that had been there for a few days after she had collided with the concrete here. A reminder of the way she would die back home. She couldn't let herself dwell on that. She was here now. "But you know more about the technicalities of all that."

He nodded as she spoke about reuniting everyone. Getting that portal under control was top of his list. He wanted his friends back and he wanted his family intact. "We'll get there," he assured her. "We managed to get this far, right?"
