WHO: Tony Stark & Pepper Potts
WHAT: Reuniting
WHERE: His office
WHEN: Friday afternoon
STATUS: Threading
WARNINGS: His mouth, probably talk of injury/death

Tony sat in his office for the second time that week waiting on an important person to visit him. It had only been a few days since he last saw Pepper in his time, but it felt like a lifetime with everything that happened.

He clicked off the network, pocketed his phone, and hurried to his door, which he opened and waited all so obviously for his beautiful wife. He broke into a grin when he saw her and drew her in for a passionate kiss. "Told you I was real."

Pepper was too dignified to run up to his office, but she walked quickly, heels echoing as she made her way up. This felt like a surreal dream, or some practical joke. She wouldn't be sure until she saw him.

Her heart skipped when she saw him waiting for her, and the return kiss was fierce, he was real. This wasn't a dream or a joke. Tears pricked the corners of her eyes as she let out an sigh of relief, turning only to close the doors, before she let any single tear spill. "Very real. I don't understand." Then she pushed him lightly, "You left me." Her voice cracked.

Tony hated hearing the crack in her voice. He hated upsetting her even though he had a knack for it. Still, death was...well, what she always feared for him.

He shook his head. "I'd never leave you if there was another way..." He knew that with his whole heart. Where he once welcomed death, things changed when he married and became a dad. As hard as the blip was on him...he didn't want to die. "I am not from that reality," he admitted, "Or at least in this one we broke the physics before it happens." He was determined not to die again. He'd figure out the portal situation and get people situated and then live his life out with his loved ones. Easy, right?

It was her biggest fear but she had told him to let go. Told him it was okay. It hurt, but it had been for a greater good. Didn't mean she liked it. She had hated it.

"I know, I know. If it happened the same exact way, I'd tell you it was okay, that we'd be okay." Her hand sought his, wanting that connection for the moment. "It doesn't matter, you're real. And I'm not letting go without more of a fight."

Nothing was esay when it came to him, but she wouldn't change him for the world.

Tony wrapped his hand around hers and smiled. It wasn't a smirky, Tony Stark smile, but a genuine, warm smile reserved for those he loved most. "Hopefully less fighting this go around," he replied, "But we are preparing just in case."

He pulled his phone out. "Let me show you something." He clicked to his photos and showed a recent one of Morgan. "Sixteen, Pep. Sixteen. God help us. She was five a few days ago."

She loved that smile, "One can hope. Though, I'm here without the suit you made me. I honestly think you need to remedy this just in case yes?" She didn't really love it, but she didn't want to be caught without something.

"Eleven years." She breathed out softly, "I can't believe it. That's... Hard to wrap my head around."

He didn't tell her that he was already working on that suit. He just nodded, pretending he hadn't been counting the days until she returned to him. Because deep down? He knew she'd come. They just didn't work apart. Even the blip knew that.

"She's amazing, Pep. You do an amazing job." His smile faltered. He hated thinking about their reality. He much preferred his current one where he had Pepper, Peter, and Morgan. Granted, he missed Rhodes and Happy like hell, but he held out hope they'd come one day too. "Anyway." He cleared his throat and kissed her cheek. "Welcome to wherever the hell this place is." It felt like reality to him. He knew messing with the fabric of time screwed up their various realities, but still.

Her other hand came up to rest against the side of his face as his smile faltered. "Of course I do. I wouldn't do anything less than a good job." She gave him a patient smile, she knew him well enough to know he'd probably been a mess without her. She was polite enough not to note that fact.

"We'll figure it out, we always do." She was not sure exactly what messing with time did, but she knew it was likely not good. But it didn't matter. She was selfish enough to be thankful she got him back.

"Tomorrow, we'll get me situated, caught up, and back to work. People are coming from all sorts of places, right? If you want I'll take over coordinating their comfort and adjustment, if you want to focus on the science side of things?" Pepper did best when she had a project.

"Oh, thank God." Tony did his best, but he really wasn't the most adept at handling people's feelings and adjustments and all that. "There is a young girl here who offered to help with that too. You should get in touch with her. Her name is Gert." He leaned into her touch. "I missed you."

"Make sure everything I need is in my office by morning and I'll get this going smoother. I'll reach out to her, too"

Her fingers brushed over his cheek, before she rested her head on his. "I missed you too. Every minute. Every day. I love you." Her voice dropped, softer. "I need you."

"You know it." Tony leaned his forehead against hers and pulled her to his chest. He rubbed his hands up and down her back. "I'm right here," he said softly. "I'm not going anywhere."

Her eyes closed as she rested against him, arms wrapping him up, holding him close even as he held her close. "Damn well better not." She tilted her head to kiss him - a soft one - before she smiled.

It didn't matter when she was, she'd be okay. She had Tony and her daughter.

Tony held his wife for a few moments before finally moving to take her hand and lead her into the privacy of his office. He closed the door behind them. "Did you know about Nat?" He asked. "Her...death? She is here now, but..." Guilt flashed across Tony's face, but then he cleared his throat and his face went into neutral again. "The kid is here too. Thank God." He squeezed her hand. "Pep, I think we need to keep this place going. Send people home if they want, sure, but keep the people here who...look at us. We only have here. Nat and Bruce. Pete and me. Morgan. All of us without futures..."

"I know about Nat." She said carefully, sighing softly, "this place is a second chance. I'll help you figure out how to give you a future. Give her a future. Give all of them one, here." She squeezed his hand.

"I know, Tony, I know. You and Bruce handle science, I'll make sure everyone is comfortable..we will make this work - we have no other choice.and even if you can send people home? I won't leave you. Or Morgan. I promise you that."

He knew she wouldn't. He could always count on his Pepper. He already felt like a load had been taken off him. "Come here..." He pulled her toward the sofa. "Sit with me for a bit, hm?"

She didn't need a lot of urging to go sit with him, she happy to have him, and If he wanted to sit, she'd stay. Of course she would. "I'll sit with you as long as you want me to." she smiled at him, her heart was full, and she didn't care they were in the middle of trouble, again. It was just less lethal trouble.
