Tony & Agatha Heterodyne

ironandheart: (= 26)
[personal profile] ironandheart
[community profile] secondchancesrpg
WHO: Tony Stark & Agatha Heterodyne
WHAT: Meeting
WHERE: The Tower
WHEN: Tuesday morning
STATUS: Threading
WARNINGS: Language, mentions of injury/gore.

Tony barely slept. He'd spent most of the night watching his video surveillance of the portal. Unfortunately, it did little good as the villains were spit out quickly and landed all over New York. He felt useless. Perhaps he ought to put on his suit and go flying over New York? However, part of him didn't want to. He didn't want to see the pained looks on Pepper's, Morgan's, or Peter's faces ever again. Could he actually sit back and be the "man in the chair" though? Hell, he was antsy.

He was just about to try to get some more sleep in his chair when a strange sight popped out of the portal and landed on top of his building. He quickly summoned his suit (just in case) and rushed up.

agathaheterodyne: (My family made it)

She nodded. "His cousin Tweedle... Well, Martellus is his real name but I'm ticked at him enough to call him Tweedle like Violetta does." She sighed, and took a bite, how to even begin to explain Tweedle? "Short version is Tweedle and Tarvek both want the same crown, both are descendants have the bloodline, both are lying conniving backstabbing snakes. I think other than Violetta the whole family is, actually. However, Tarvek is a USEFUL lying conniving backstabbing snake who is, at the moment, more or less on my side." And she might be slightly in love with him, but that is besides the point.

"Tweedle was pretending to help us get the last of the defenses set up then kidnapped me and knifed Tarvek with a blade with some virulent but unknown - to me - poison. If Tweedle is telling the truth, Tarvek will be dead before he hits the floor. HOWEVER, the Baron detonated a time bomb just as I was being kidnapped, in the center of my town," A flash of anger in her eyes and voice at that, "And so the whole town is frozen in time at the exact moment that we left. So once time restarts, which I still have to figure out, I have until Tarvek hits the floor to get a sample, analyze it, create an antidote and administer it. I've spent longer than I care to calculate trying to figure out a way to make this work. I'm seriuously thinking the best plan is just to kill Tarvek. If I can do it in a fast enough shock, cut off his head and stop his heart, that should HOPEFULLY stop the blood from spreading the poison. Then I can preserve his brain, if I can get it jarred and wired in fast enough, so that I can repair his body, sew his head back on and revivify him. In theory. If, you know, nothing else goes wrong. But killing him worked last time, so it might be the best way to heal him. Just a shame Gil will miss it, I think he was upset he was too sick to wnjoy it last time we had to kill Tarvek."

There were reasons that she blinked only at the number of people brought back all at once, not that you brought people back from the dead, Tony.

Tony listened to her story. It sounded straight out of a horror movie, which, given what was happening at the moment, was fitting. He was definitely going to have to look up what type of being this woman was. "Well, you'll have time here," he said. "We haven't figured out how to send people home yet." His working theory was that they were in two places at once, but he wasn't sure how much he wanted to share just yet. "I'm sorry, for what it is worth. For your shitty time."

"I can help, if you want," It would be good to get to learn the science behind the travel after all. It was better, to her mind, than counting on Bending. She ate a bit more cake. "In all honesty, I'd rather help than pity," she said bluntly, but not unkindly. "In theory, a way home might actually be coming. I was supposed to be heading off world with a friend of mine who has a way of moving between the worlds, we were going to experiment with it, when things went to **** on that world and we wound up having to chase a Deva across a number of worlds to stop her from turning all worlds static. So if I am gone too long, there is the chance Connie will come looking for me, or perhaps Nita or Leia as they both expressed a willingness to help. But time moves differently from world to world, apparently, and I don't know how much that is compounded for me, due to my exposure to the time bomb. I have an insufficient sample set for the experiment. So they might have already noticed I am missing, or might not notice for hours or worse."

She facepalmed, realizing something. "And they might have their hands full. If all my clanks are there... without me... That... might be a problem. The construction clank alone is over twenty feet tall.... and there are a few thousand dingbots..."

She had a lot on her plate. Tony could tell she was capable though. "Got it," he said, holding up a hand. "No pity. I'm not much for it either." He'd always rather tinker than deal with emotions although he'd gotten much better at the latter since falling in love and becoming a dad.

"My theory is that you are still technically at home." He relented on his resolve to keep some of his theory quiet. This person obviously knew superior things from a different world. That could come in handy. "So you don't have to worry about your clanks. And, really, I think you'd make a great addition to the team here, Agatha."
agathaheterodyne: (Broken tool)
Oct. 7th, 2020 10:35 pm (UTC)
"Still technically at home, how exactly?" You now have her full unnerving undivided attention.

"I think we're copies," he admitted. "Existing in multiple places at once, but not always with the same outcome. For instance, I die in another timeline that is similar to this one." He shrugged. "It is like that cake...we cut different slices of time, but it is still all chocolate. So we are here, but we are also living in parallel realities as ourselves."
agathaheterodyne: (CAFFENE!)
Oct. 7th, 2020 10:51 pm (UTC)
Her hand flew to the locket at her throat and she began to pace, as if alarmed. "If I am a copy... that could be ad. Exceedingly bad. If your theory is proved true... once I give my notes and whatever I learn here to my other self... someone will have to take me out." Well, maybe after some experiments, since this is a unique and fascinating situation. "There are already too many as it is. There cannot be two Agatha Heterodynes ever existing at the same time on my world, and if I exist, I will keep trying to go back, even if I know that it is dangerous. Because there are people I need to save. But there being two of me, as I am... would create far worse than a flaw."

A shame she didn't know about the Muse of Time yet, or she'd be far calmer.

"Hold on, hold on," Tony quickly replied. "If we get this right, there won't be two of you. Just one. Relax, okay? Have more cake."
agathaheterodyne: (Trying to keep calm)
Oct. 8th, 2020 06:12 pm (UTC)
She hesitated a moment, then went back to the cake. She took a bite and stated fiddling with parts again. "Listening," she said after a moment. The small new creation started ferrying her parts and tools.

Oct. 8th, 2020 06:17 pm (UTC)
Was she talking to Tony or her creation? He wasn't sure, but he took the opportunity to add, "You really should learn to work the phone. It is how we all keep in touch."
agathaheterodyne: (You don't say)
Oct. 8th, 2020 06:36 pm (UTC)
Him. She glanced at him. "How do you figure there won't be?" she asked. "The phone...is like the network, I suppose?"
ironandheart: buckybear@ij (+ 65)
Oct. 8th, 2020 06:37 pm (UTC)
"Exactly. Can I show you?" He held it out again, clearly excited to show off his tech.
agathaheterodyne: (What is that?)
Oct. 8th, 2020 06:40 pm (UTC)
She was more concerned about his theory than the phone but she nodded, still tinkering. "Alright."

She understood. She'd rather be working with practical tech than theoretical futures herself, and it wasn't exactly like she trusted him enough to tell him WHY another of her would be so dangerous....

Maybe some day, but not yet. So far he reminded her of Billy, which made her want to trust him, but her own desire to trust was what was making her cautious.

He grinned and actually relaxed for a few minutes as he showed her everything the smartphone could do. "This is yours," he finished. "Want to give it a whirl?"
agathaheterodyne: (What is that?)
Oct. 8th, 2020 06:46 pm (UTC)
She listened intently, even as she kept building, interrupting only to ask for parts now and then. When he finished, she was considering what he had said then nodded. "I suppose I should make the first modifications while I have someone who is familiar with the tech, but what modifications did you want me to make?" That was what he meant, right?

Oct. 8th, 2020 07:12 pm (UTC)
Tony blinked. Had he not been clear? "No, it is a gift for you," he tried to explain. "So you can connect with us. You know, in case of emergency or in case you just want to say hi..." He pulled out his own phone and pulled up the Stark network. He scrolled through a few posts to show her.
agathaheterodyne: (Why not)
Oct. 8th, 2020 07:29 pm (UTC)
"Oh...." she said, blinking. "Well thank you. And I'm guessing the rules are kind of like the ones for the network?"
ironandheart: (= 53)
Oct. 8th, 2020 07:30 pm (UTC)
"What were the rules?" He asked.
agathaheterodyne: (But science...)
Oct. 8th, 2020 07:32 pm (UTC)
"Well nothing was posted, but basically.... I learned the hard way, don't kill anyone on the network, even if they asked you to and it is for science. Ah, on that note, is there a lab I can use somewhere or will I have to build it myself again?"
ironandheart: (=46)
Oct. 8th, 2020 07:35 pm (UTC)
"No, no killing anyone on the network," Tony quickly agreed. "We only kill bad guys around here." She didn't seem like a bad guy. Complex, sure, but not bad. "I can give you some space for a lab," he promised. "I'll get someone to set that up for you."
agathaheterodyne: (Dramatic)
Oct. 8th, 2020 08:23 pm (UTC)
"Not sure if he was a bad guy or not, but he was interested in revivification, and since that is one of my areas of study at the time as well, I agreed to help with the experiment if he would share his research with me. I fulfilled my end of the bargain" and was hated for ages as a result, "but he left before we could do more than the first experiment," she said, frustrated.

"Something about the nature of the world itself made death impermanent. Without the need for machinery. He wanted to study how it worked, I wanted to study how using mechanical revivification on a world where death was naturally impermanent changed the revivification process. But I didn't ask if I could kill him for the experiment, he asked me to kill him, I helped refine what he wanted out of his death. And helped him choose a less painful method. Who actually WANTS to be burned to death anyway?" She shook her head. "Anyway, I learned that way to tell people there will be an experiment, and the nature of it, then invite them to my lab so that those who want to see it, for science, can, but it won't bother anyone too sensitive to handle death."
ironandheart: (:o 39)
Oct. 8th, 2020 08:28 pm (UTC)
Her world was certainly interesting. "Here death is a bit more permanent. I mean there was the Blip, like I told you, but they turned to dust. It was a bit different than how people normally die, you know?"
agathaheterodyne: (Um what?)
Oct. 8th, 2020 08:33 pm (UTC)
"But you said you undid that," she pointed out. "And then of course... there is science. I can prioritize a revivification rigs, if you want." After she built a death ray and a few more dingbots.
ironandheart: (= 3)
Oct. 11th, 2020 06:52 am (UTC)
"With some unintended consequences," he pointed out. "We are trying to put the universe back to how it should be." With some minor adjustments, like Tony staying alive, but he didn't mention that.
agathaheterodyne: (A devilish idea)
Oct. 11th, 2020 06:56 am (UTC)
"Well yes, but if things went exactly as you expected them to, it would hardly be science now would it? Besides, unless you created a flaw, how it should be is subjective," she pointed out, reasonably.

She took a bite of cake and grinned. "For example, the absence of salted caramel snails in this cake."
