May wasn't a bad cook when she took her time. The problem? She rarely had the time to take. She was always worried about work or Peter so she always felt like time was running out and she needed to get everything done right this second. Needless to say May burned her fair share of turkey meatloaves over the years. Still, she did French toast pretty damn well, which was what she was making for breakfast that morning. Syrup, butter, whipped cream, and strawberries were already on the table.

"Peter, honey?" she called. "Want some breakfast?"

"Morning," she said cheerfully as she attempted to kiss his cheek. "Sleep well, baby?" She held a plate piled with French toast toward him. Truthfully? She was worried about her nephew. He'd been through a lot with the Blip and the battle and everything. She too missed five years of her life, but she also had the most important person with her in their new dimension. Peter? Peter was a kid who lost years and then fought to save the world. It was a tremendous weight for a teen, even a superhero like Peter.

He rubbed a bit of crust from his eyes and took the plate from her - at the same time - on his way to the table. "Mmhmm," he rumbles with a nod. He was still waking up.

He'd missed those five years, and the fact that he has his aunt now that he's back is great. He's not sure what he'd do without her.

But, Peter was also suffering from what amounted to some sort of mental whiplash - he had watched Mr. Stark die, then been yanked through time and space to somewhere that Mr. Stark was still alive. He hadn't even had time to get anywhere near any sort of mourning before that had happened, so he was a little off-center. Beyond that, the Mr. Stark here was so much different from the one he'd lost. It was confusing and he was trying to reconcile all of that.

It was really good that MJ was here - it was another familiar face. He needed familiar right now.

Peter might not have been her biological kid, but she loved him just the same. She knew she could never replace his mother, but she was his Aunt May and it was special all the same. So could anyone blame her for worrying? It had been May and Peter against the world for so long. They were a little team.

She turned off the stove before carrying her own plate to the table. She sat across from Peter and took a few bites before focusing on her nephew again. "So, tell me, crazy here, isn't it?"

While Aunt May couldn't replace his mother, from Peter's perspective, she's done nearly as well as he thinks his mom would have. He's had a pretty good life - food and shelter and clothes and school. It's been good.

He looks up from the pancakes. "Mmm - kinda. But, back in the other timeline? Not really normal either."

She chuckled. He was right. Their lives hadn't been normal for quite some time. Aliens, thieves, Spider-Man. She reached out and brushed her hand down his arm. "I'm just glad we are here together," she admitted. She couldn't imagine not having Peter, not after losing Ben. It was a small favor she'd been blipped along with him. "Are you thinking about school?"

He grinned at her. "Only in the sense of how I can skip it and just go to undergrad." Psht... school?

May laughed. "I bet you can test into college," she agreed. "But you are going to college, right?" She gave him her patent "Aunt May means business" look.

"Probably. Can probably get some sort of special dispensation to skip some classes too and start as a sophomore or something." Depending on where he decided to go and how much he chose to lean on the influence of Mr. Stark.
