Tony Stark & Open

ironandheart: (:o 19)

WHO: Tony Stark & Open to multiples
WHERE: Starting in the lobby of the apartment tower.
WHAT: Tony is helping arrivals
WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 20, 2023
WARNINGS: Tony's language

The last few weeks were rough on Tony. He’d warned the others that messing with time could have dire consequences. Sure, they brought some of the “blipped” back, but at what cost? Others disappeared while people from various other realities popped in. He was doing the best he could with the information he had, but, honestly, housing the new arrivals was first on his mind. They couldn’t just go running around the city; the government would just love the Avengers for that one. Tony, therefore, set up housing as quickly as possible and put his people and artificial intelligence in charge. Still, some arrivals insisted on talking to a human being and, for now, he was one of the few left who knew what happened. Damn his luck. His wife and daughter were goodness knew where in time and space while he was stuck on earth n 2023 trying to put everything right side up.

Tears were in her eyes the moment he turned to look at her. Her hand came to her mouth which was wide open. How was this possible. Her eyebrows furrowed and she rose to her feet. There was curiosity under all of the shock.

Slowly, she nodded. "I'm uh… 16." She didn't know what else to say. "How are you…?" She couldn't bring herself to ask how he was alive, but it hung there for a moment.

He noticed her tears immediately. "Morguna," he said and held his arms out. "Come here, baby." Never mind how he was; she was the important one.

The sound of her nickname caused her to move forward automatically. None of it made sense, not even a little bit, but her dad was here.

"I've missed you so much." She said gently, holding him in a tight hug. She would wake up from this dream soon, she always did, but this time it felt so real.

Tony squeezed her tightly. Her words didn't make sense. He'd worked out they were in multiple places at once. "Missed me?" He asked. "Where have I been, sweetheart?" He kissed her cheek. "It's okay, I'm right here."

Suddenly, Morgan felt very uncomfortable. How could she tell him. She pulled away from him, just a little, and tried to dry her face.

"Daddy," she said softly, "Daddy, you died protecting the world from Thanos."

He brought his sleeve to her cheek so he could help her mop her face. "What?" He blurted. "I sur---" Then it dawned on him. "Another reality," he muttered. "Alright, sweetheart, I am sorry. I am here now. I promise. This whole thing...we made some sort of portal. You were four a few hours ago for me."

Morgan took a deep breath and once again wrapped her arms around her father. "Mom said..." Morgan found for the first time in a long time, that she was struggling to get the words out. Maybe her father hadn't died at all, maybe he'd just been transported. She but her lip.

"Four?" She said with a short laugh. "Does that mean this is the past?"

He nodded, guessing what she meant. He squeezed her hard, as if his hug alone could prove he was alive and well and with her. "We're dealing with different realities," he told her. "This looks like a whole other timeline completely. It is 2023." He kissed the top of her head. Sure, she was much older than she was a few hours ago, but she was undeniably his child.

Morgan leaned her head against him, relaxing against her father like she had when she was a kid. It was comforting. "Wow. 2023. That was... like 12 years ago." She snorted a bit.

"So, uh, where are we staying?" She beamed. She was going to live with her father, though she doubted that she was going to get much debate on that.

He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding when she relaxed against him. She loved him. He wasn't Howard. He was also dead in her reality, but still. He must have done something right if she didn't recoil at the sight of him. "Here," he said. "You'll be with me in my suite," he assured her. "Your mom is..." He swallowed. "Um, she must have gone through the portal, but, hey! You showed up, hmm? Maybe she'll get back soon."

Morgan froze for a moment. She hadn't even thought to ask about her mother... her mother had just always been a constant in her life, always there for her when she needed her, always around to catch her when she stumbled. She couldn't help the sigh that fell from her lips, she was apparently only allowed to have one of her parents at a time.

"She'll be here." Morgan said with an optimistic nod, trying to sound more hopeful than she felt.

He noticed the slight change in her demeanor. He didn't blame her. She had Pepper far longer than she had him in her world. "She'll never leave me to my own devices for long," he agreed. "I mean look what is happening..." He shot her a small smile, hoping his light tone made her feel better.

She hadn't meant to make her father feel bad, she was thrilled that he was here, but it felt wrong to be there without her mom too. She just wanted to have her little family all together again. She leaned up and placed a kiss on his cheek.

"I love you 3000, dad." She smirked at him, "And I'll do my best to keep you in check until mom gets here."

Tony laughed. God, she was just a little girl saying that to him! Parents always thought their kids grew up too fast, but in this case? It literally happened under his nose. Still, he loved her. How could he not? She was his perfect little girl. "I love you a ton," he reminded her.
